6 Easy Ways to Proofread Your Resume

In order to get in the door for the interview, your first impression is your resume.  The hiring manager will decide within seconds weather or not he/she wants to meet with you.  You can have a great education, great work experience, but those take time.  One of the quickest and easiest ways to improve your resume is to proofread.  Make sure there are no grammatical errors.  You want to accurately describe yourself professionally.  The following are 6 ways to proofread and upgrade your resume according to Michelle Riklan.

(1) Run your resume through an online spelling and grammar checker  Send your resume through an online spelling and grammar checker.  Most basic versions are free.

(2) Consider hiring a professional editor o check your resume.  You will only need to do this once so it might be worth the money.

(3) Get a friend or family member to look over your resume.  Free!  A second set of fresh eyes to view the layout and style.

(4)ake another look at your contact information.  Simple!  This is very important information, so be sure to have it correct.

(5) Take a break, and then give it a second look

Give it a day or two, then go back and take another look.  You may just notice a mistake that wasn’t there before.

(6) Read it out loud  When your eyes don’t notice the mistake, your voice might.  Read it to a friend.
