The Technical Writer

-Creates, edits, revises, and maintains a wide variety of documentation for our IT systems, projects, and activities


-Retrieves, organizes, analyzes, and synthesizes complex subject matter and transforms it into easy-to-understand information for specific audiences.

-Works collaboratively with internal teams and subject matter experts globally including developers, systems administrators, quality engineers, managers, and usability experts.

-Employs best practices in the field, analyzes existing and potential content, focusing on content reuse and single-sourcing opportunities
-Uses industry-standard authoring and desktop publishing tools to produce finished products that include web, electronic, and print publications; assists in the layout of material for publication.
-Produces and updates documentation for GxP and non-GxP IT systems, including software development life cycle (SDLC) deliverables (e.g., business requirements, test plans, test scripts, design specifications, functional specifications); standard operating procedures (SOPs); policies; work instructions; user guides; knowledge base articles; and technical diagrams
-Produces high-quality documentation that meets applicable standards and is appropriate for its intended audience
Proven experience as a technical writer in information technology environments


-Strong to expert level Microsoft Office skills
-Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Visio, screen capture software, graphics design software
-High proficiency in content writing, creating highly technical documentation per established standards for accuracy, quality, presentation, grammar, and composition
-Reasonable technical understanding and an ability to translate technical requirements and specifications into easily understood business concepts
-Knowledge of information architecture and information design techniques
-Basic understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and related documentation
-Experience with Microsoft SharePoint and content management a plus
-Experience in working with subject matter experts and diversified teams
-Ability to complete tasks and assignments with limited direction


Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent preferred
