This team member will play a key role in ongoing management and evolution of the clients Intelligence Service and its Analytics Platform).  The candidate will be responsible for requirements gathering, vendor management and successful delivery of new Business Intelligence IT projects and enhancements within various functional areas such as Commercial, Quality, and Finance.  The candidate will also work with the Commercial Data team, responsible for the daily execution of the inbound and outbound data processes, to ensure data integrity/quality and successful analytical operations.

Responsibilities will vary per enhancement or project but may include collecting requirements, producing function specifications, ensuring successful user acceptance and systems integration testing, assisting in the planning and implementation of enhancements and preparing business impact analyses. The role will require interaction with both external consulting teams and internal business users. Ultimately, the ideal candidate will be able to help drive success across the Business Intelligence Service through Business engagement and increased adoption and/or hands on technical know-how in MicroStrategy.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate activities across the Development lifecycle of Reporting and Analytical artifacts such as requirements gathering, functional specifications and systems documentation, and ensuring successful delivery while working with internal and external stakeholders;

  • Support and coordinate Systems Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing, and associated activities such as test plan, test cases and test execution as related to data management and data integration within the Commercial Environment;

  • Support Operations by managing successful resolution of production issues, determining root cause, managing vendors and ensuring successful delivery/consumption of reports and dashboards;

  • Support the IT BI team and internal/external end users in the use of the overall  solution as it relates to the Business Intelligence Service;

  • Lead and Coordinate Change Management initiatives;

  • Manage and coordinate issues and risks within the BI Service from identification through resolution;

  • Engage with Business SME’s across multiple functional areas to clarify and understand reporting and analytic needs.  These functional areas may include Sales, Marketing, Quality, Finance, Compliance and HR.

  • Synthesize analytic needs in cooperation with Data Management team to assess data readiness and propose a solution design and architecture required.  Solution designs should emphasize/enable self-service access to reporting and analysis. 

  • Translate requirements into effective and impactful dashboards and reports that enable information sharing across the Ironwood enterprise.

  • Contribute to and support the development, testing and deployment of new dashboards, reports, and ad hoc environment enhancements in the BI Service.

  • Ensure the efficient management and operation of production BI tools and platforms.

  • Provide hands-on design and implementation expertise around business intelligence reporting data marts and ETL processing/data sourcing for the Ironwood BI and Data teams.

  • Proactively work to improve BI Service SLAs, quality, and on-time and on-budget delivery of projects and enhancements.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • 5-7 years of analyst experience, preferably in the biotech / pharma space.

  • Significant experience with the MicroStrategy Analytics Platform.  MicroStrategy 10.0 and higher with hands-on report development, dashboard creation, and mobile deployment required.

  • Solid understanding of Relational Database Management Systems and Integrations.

  • Understanding of data warehouse and data mart concepts.

  • Demonstrated collaboration and teamwork with internal and external stakeholders and vendors.

  • Ability to work independently yet gain support of diverse Business groups / partners.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Exceptional analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.

  • Understanding of data preparation, data quality, governance and metadata frameworks.

  • Experience in performance tuning, application monitoring and support of production applications.

  • Experience assessing and proposing new technical architecture for enterprise business intelligence systems at large.

 

Preferred Requirements

  • Professional and hands on experience with ETL Tools like Informatica is a plus.

  • 3-5 years of experience implementing enterprise analytic data mart/BI solutions in complex production environments.

  • 3-5 years of experience developing and administering Business Intelligence platforms in the Pharmaceutical/Biotech setting, preferably in the Commercial space.

  • MicroStrategy CMA or CMD certifications.

  • Proficiency in SQL;

  • Working knowledge of Web technologies is desired;

  • Excellent knowledge of RDBMS and OLAP technologies and experience developing multi-dimensional data models.

  • Solid experience with and knowledge of ETL development and data management/governance best practices.

  • Experience with SAS as well as Big Data technologies is an added plus.

  • B.A./B.S. Degree; Post graduate in Computer Science, Computer Engineering preferred.
