The NCSU ServiceNow developer is a part of a rapid application development team, building enterprise applications using the Platform as a Service (PaaS) delivery model. The ServiceNow Developer applies practical knowledge of development and engineering to conceive, design, develop, test, and implement software fixes, enhancements, components, and/or new software applications of moderate complexity that may or may not integrate with external systems. The Developer focuses on coding at the component level and works under minimal supervision. The Developer is responsible for managing development projects and reporting status of those projects to management. The Developer works in a team atmosphere with absolute transparency.
Gathering and documenting end user and process requirements, functional requirements, and developing technical requirements
Developing workflow customizations In-depth understanding of ServiceNow functionality and how all ITIL processes can be implemented in ServiceNow. This includes, but is not limited to Incident Management, Change Management, Problem, Asset Management, CMDB Management, Service Catalog, and Problem Management modules
Translating business requirements into code, programming, testing and debugging, and ensuring adherence to defined ServiceNow engineering processes
Following processes and operational policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions
With limited direction, supporting the implementation of systems into production Scrum/Agile development experience and ability to work in a rapid pace environment
Develop realistic and data-driven project plans
Manage customer expectations to coincide with the needs of all relevant stakeholders, including other customers, resource limitations, and IT policies and best practices
Provide training and assistance with applications during and after the project implementation
Participate in ongoing production support and end user support
Require post-baccalaureate credentials or a bachelor’s degree plus alternative or equivalent professional training and experience may be substituted for the advanced degree on an exceptional basis.
Experience integrating ServiceNow with external systems through SOAP or REST web services
Experience with the ServiceNow Studio IDE Experience using the Workflow Editor to configure workflows
Required License Or Certification
ServiceNow Certified Application Developer, Certified Implementation Specialist and/or ITIL Foundation Certification are preferred.
