Over the past couple of weeks, we have heard controversy over the new Amazon go store. According to The United Food and Commercial Workers Union, cashier is the second-most-common job in the United States, with 3.5 million people.  Some worry that a smart grocery store such as Amazon Go could put a lot of people out of work if it takes off but there’s a lot more to this cashierless store than you may think.

The Amazon go store does have employees to check IDs, meal prep, stock shelves, and store maintenance.  One of the many appealing features to this idea was to make grocery shopping more convenient and for the customer to not need to wait in any lines.  Surprisingly there is a 97-person cap allowed inside the store at one time including employees.  This has resulted in lines forming outside of the amazon go store.  For more details on the new Amazon Go store, check out this article “6 Things We’ve Learned About the New Cashierless Amazon Go Store”
