How Recruiters Help You Succeed

Recruiters specialize in finding people. They are equal parts salesman, career counselor, and consultant who are balanced in their advice and present both sides of the story for a candidate and an employer.

So how can recruiters help you in your next job transition?  Recruiters are vested in helping you land a job, and do whatever they can to help you succeed. A major difference between going through an external recruiter versus internal HR is that recruiters working for an agency welcome openness and honesty. You can feel safe revealing to them your true feelings about your past positions and what you need in a new opportunity.

Firms that staff consultants or temp-to-perm positions are beneficial to candidates because it is like a test run for you. Do you feel like the job is a fit? Do you like working for the company? Does the commute work for you? Is the work enjoyable and do you do it well?

A major part of a recruiter’s role is to be an expert when it comes to interview techniques and advice. They prepare and coach you to increase your chances of getting hired.

Many companies do not advertise particular job opportunities. Perhaps the company is about to expand or introduce a new product, and they want to prevent competitors from finding this out. Or, the company has a job opportunity available for which they only want the most qualified candidates applying for. Third party recruiters often have access to this “hidden job market” and can help you land an opportunity you wouldn’t have known existed otherwise.

A recruiter is your biggest advocate for getting noticed, and they work hard to get your qualifications in front of the hiring manager rather than getting lost in hundreds of other resumes.

Recruiters work with you through the entire hiring process. They are committed to taking the time to get to know you as a candidate and have a relationship with you before submitting you for a job. Prior to an interview they prepare you with details such as who you are interviewing with and how long you can expect the interview to be. They guide you through the onboarding process and let you know what you can expect the for your next 1-3 months of employment.

The main takeaway is that job boards and online profile databases such as LinkedIn will never be able to replace recruiters. They have skills that take years to develop, and they don’t take shortcuts. At The Autumn Group we have dedicated recruiters who believe in relationships with both our consultants and our clients. Let us help you with your next position or project.
