The Best Ways to Prepare For Your First Day On The Job

First impressions mean a lot.  Make sure you are on time!  Figure out where you are going to park ahead of time.  You can do a dry run the day before to see how long the commute will be during rush hour.  An alternate route should also be in place. You need to know more than one way to get to your new job.  In case you find yourself stuck in traffic or encountering an unexpected hangup. Search online maps before you leave the house to give you an idea of multiple ways.

Have your outfit picked out the night before.  Wear appropriate shoes.  If you are taking the train or doing a lot of walking, pack your shoes in your bag and put them on in the office.  Make sure you are both physically and mentally prepared for your first day on the new job.  Check out this awesome hour-by-hour guide to surviving your first day at a new job.  Having an open mind can make all the difference when talking to your new colleagues and boss.  Figuring out the coffee situation and getting organized are just as important during your first day as your more formal onboarding processes.  Keep your expectations low and be ready to adapt starting on day one.   Develop a 30/60/90 day plan to make yourself successful.   The Muse has some other good tips.

Good luck on your first day!  If you need any assistance, please contact our recruiters!  They are happy to help!
