4 Steps To Enter The IT World

1. Get the right education: A college education demonstrates to employers that you have the basic skill set necessary to purse a career in technology.
2. Network with others: There are two important contacts to make in college – instructors who have experience in the field and peers who are also seeking positions at tech companies. Build relationships by networking. These contacts can help you with insight on important trends and give you guidance on developing new skills. They can give you the inside scoop on job openings and offer letters of recommendation.
3. Start small: Most careers in technology require training and skill development on the job. Don’t hesitate to begin as an intern or in an entry-level position!
4. Grow your skills: stay on top of emerging trends and continuously develop your technical skills to break into (and keep) an IT role.  Technical expertise is vital, but so is being business savvy. Be sure to develop your customer-service and communication skills.

As an IT professional, accept any and all kinds of projects, study independently, and pursue further education. Growing your skills puts you on the path for promotions and increasingly responsible roles!
